UCSF Teen Smoking Study: medical study for teenagers
If you are 13-18 years-old, vape and agree to participate, you will come to UCSF for a 30-minute visit. During that visit, you will provide a saliva and urine sample (to test for nicotine and other chemicals found in e-cigarettes) and complete a questionnaire.
You will be paid $30 for the visit.
Over the next 1 year, we will contact you every six months to complete some more questionnaires.
You will be paid each time you complete a visit:
$35 for the 6-month and $40 for the 12-month visit for a total of $105.
Mark Rubinstein, M.D. from the UCSF Department of Pediatrics (Division of Adolescent Medicine) and Danielle Ramo, Ph.D. from the UCSF Department of Psychiatry, are doing a research study about electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes/ vaping) in teenagers.
The study doctors hope this study will help doctors and researchers understand more about the use of e-cigarettes (vaping) in adolescents including what the risks may be.
